Big Purple Phone
Big Purple Phone is changing how this phone is set up
This is a required change — the phone can’t stay set up the way it is now. It’s due to how Google Play now reviews apps that are used to monitor and manage devices. The guide resets the phone once, then helps you choose how to use it from here. Go at your own pace — you can stop and come back, and there’s help on every page.
Time left to do this before 31 October 2026
After 31 October 2026, any phone still on the old setup will reset itself automatically.
What you need to know
- It needs doing, but not this secondNothing stops working the moment you arrive here, so there’s time to do it with a family member or carer. But the change can’t be skipped — it’s best not to leave it too long.
- It’s free, and the phone stays yoursThere is no cost to you. Your phone, number and account all stay yours — this only changes how the phone is set up.
- You choose the outcomeUse it as a normal Android phone, keep the simple Big Purple Phone layout, or close the account entirely.
Choose the outcome that suits you
You’ll confirm this inside the guide — this is just a preview.
Wipe it and use it as a normal phone
Reset the phone to factory settings so it works like any other Android phone.
Wipe it and reinstall the Big Purple Phone app
Reset the phone, then reinstall the Big Purple Phone app. The app still looks after the phone, but it is no longer locked down — you can leave the app to use the rest of the phone.
